Group Controller - Huge Plantation Company

    The Group Controller will be reporting directly to the Group CFO which is based in Singapore. The role will be in charge of handling a plantation area of 100,000 hectares. The succesful candidate needs to be very strong in costing, increasing productivity, financial planning and budgeting.

    Our client is a Public Listed Plantation Company. A well respected player boasting a strong track record historically, they are a premium brand in the industry. Consequently, they are looking to bring on board a dynamic Group Controller who can assist the business at a time of rapid growth and groomed to be one of the future leaders of the company


    • Provide technical expertise in the delivery of sound business/financial solutions with regards to tactical decisions facing the logistics and operations entities and assets in Indonesia
    • Partner business stakeholders to drive business and financial performance
    • Identify and support continuous improvement of business operations
    • CAPEX reviews and monitoring of return on investments
    • Co-ordinate long-term strategic planning and resource allocation for the business units in Indonesia
    • Develop resources and competency in the area of financial management
    • Oversee all financial and business control operations and structure
    • Coordinate, analyze and report business / financial performance to Management (financial performance, projections and other special projects as required)
    • Prepare short and long-term financial forecasts
    • Develop if required, implement and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures for a wide-ranging set of activities including reporting and other corporate policies
    • Build, manage and strengthen the finance team


    • Minimum 15 years' regional strategic financial management experience gained from a corporate/MNC environment preferably from the Plantation industry
    • Proven strong managerial and leadership qualities
    • Business Partnering skills and a good team player
    • Operationally in tune with the business with a keen eye for analysis and details
    • Possess business acumen and strong commercial sense
    • Willing to be based in Balikpapan
    • Driven, sharp, results orientated with strong understanding of business operations and key drivers
    • Ability to strike a good balance between cost control versus value adding
    • Strong communication and presentation skills (oral and written); as well as fluency in English, and/or Bahasa as you will be required to liaise with overseas offices
