BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Media reaction and opportunities are considered in almost all aspect of public diplomacy (PD) works, and the Information Assistant leverages these opportunities for maximum impact. S/he works directly with media outlets to get coverage of consulate activities and programs, organizes press conferences, and places press releases. S/he assists Consul General (CG) and other officers in preparing and translating remarks. S/he also monitors local media and prepares daily press briefing for CG and section chiefs. S/he works closely with Information section in the U.S. Embassy Jakarta to coordinate press releases and provides local stories for inclusion in Jakarta-produced press summaries. S/he produces material to promote and disseminate activities and information, including but not limited to, producing and shooting videos, designing graphics, and taking photographs. S/he works on the social media platform for the U.S. Consulate, producing, developing, and disseminating content to engage with audiences. The incumbent travels with Public Affairs Officer (PAO) and CG to provide support at media events outside Surabaya.

- EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: At least a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, Political Science, Economics, Journalism, or International Relations with at least 4 years’ experience in a related field that includes but not limited to cultural, public relations, advertising, video production, journalism, social media, graphic design, or in media field OR at least an associate degree (diploma 3) with at least 5 years’ experience in a related field that includes but not limited to cultural, public relations, advertising, video production, journalism, social media, graphic design, or in media field is required
- LANGUAGE: Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of Indonesian language is required. Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required. (This will be tested.)
- 3. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet applications, slide presentations, emails, and internet). Photo and basic graphic design skills (such as Adobe suite). Basic knowledge of social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram). (This will be tested.)
