Accountability

 

  • Apply understanding of H&M trends, customers and concepts to identify the right suppliers’ capabilities and skills

  • Coordinate PD/POD to identify and develop new material (including fabrics, yarn, components)/treatment/trims

  • Drive the developments to ensure best options, qualities, prices and lead time

     

    Main Responsibilities

     

  1. TRENDS & FASHION

  • Apply understanding of H&M trends, customers and concepts to identify the right suppliers’ capabilities and skills

  • Based on the above, interpret trends in new materials & products with suitable suppliers

  • Keep every stage in the development process as efficient as possible

  • Follow market trends

     

  1. DEVELOP MATERIAL & SUPPORT PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

  • Identify & develop new material (including fabrics, yarn, components)/treatment/trims

  • Drive the developments to ensure best options, qualities, prices and lead time

  • In the pre-order stage, support the Quotation Merchandiser with value driver appropriate options on fabrics and qualities specific to products

  • Work with suppliers to secure material quality based on H&M’s requirements

  • Secure material copyright

  • Interpret concept into material. Work with suppliers/mills to develop their capabilities on new qualities and / or improve the performance of complex qualities

  • For materials, update the information and price in Castor

  • Conduct all relevant tests on sample yardage & garment suppliers which are classified as potential orders for new qualities

 

  1. COMMUNICATION AND COOPERATION

  • Work closely with the Material team and Innovation team regarding new material, the season’s materials, etc.

  • With PD, support the Production team with regard to trends and new developments

  • Collaborate on common goals as relevant with the Material team/Buyer, Product Developer, Merchandising team, Sustainability and Quality teams

     

  1. COOPERATION WITH SUPPLIERS

  • Regularly communicate to identify supplier strengths, and give and receive feedback to improve performance

  • With PD, update suppliers on trends and concepts

    Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in textiles or specific material specialization and supplementary course in fashion is preferred

  • Knowledge and experience for at least 4 to 5 years in material/textiles development preferred

  • Preferably experience working in material / textiles development

  • Excellent English communication both written or verbal

  • Travel is required
