Qualification:

  • Bachelor Degree – no specific area of study is required, but a Science, Engineering or Technical degree would be an advantage

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in relevant field as a manager of a high volume service business with P&L responsibility or running their own business in a similar field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience managing a field based sales team
  • An established network of customers in industrial process industries
  • Experience  within an inspection business, department or team is an advantage
  • Experience in setting up a new business is an advantage
  • Experience building business relationships with customers and handling complaints or difficult situations that may arise due to technician mistakes or problems, scheduling issues or any other issues that arise from normal on-site contact between inspectors and customer sites and personnel

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in management of building services (Fire Protection, Electrical and HVAC) service and inspection business, and / or product sales for associated building services. Specific knowledge required for practical techniques and work procedures, usually acquired through experience in similar businesses
  • Proficient at written and spoken English – Minimum score of 600 on TOEFL or equivalent score on a comparable test.  Should be able to compose emails and letters in English with few, if any, grammatical or spelling mistakes.  Should be able to speak relatively fluently in conversational English. Should be able to compose ISO processes and forms where needed.
  • Understanding of basic accounting – both financial accounting like profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements and management accounting reporting
  • Understanding of database structure and software architecture and advantage
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Should have above average MS PowerPoint skills

Non-Technical Skills:

  • Negotiation skills – including the ability to ask for an order and close a sale
  • Demonstrate good business acumen in knowing how to run a business – from pricing, to relationship management, to controlling costs and making a profit
  • Skills in leading a business team i.e. providing leadership and structure/processes to motivate people to meet productivity and key performance goals and help them overcome obstacles to success
  • Able to communicate effectively with in-house team and customers
  • Adept at establishing rapport quickly with new business contacts, building quality relationships with customers over time and developing productive relationships with other external stakeholders
